Dear Constituents,

Please take a moment to read our enclosed electronic newsletter. Your continued support of our foundation is vital to our success in helping the people of our community facing breast cancer.

PET Scans
If you have not done so in the past, we invite you to look at the website www.ncpic.org to learn more about the benefits of PET scans in the staging and restaging of breast cancer. Please see the following letter of thanks from a woman who was recently a beneficiary of an Albie Aware PET Scan.

September 25, 2006
Board of Directors
Albie Aware Cancer Foundation
3323 Watt Avenue, #258
Sacramento, CA 95821

Dear Board Members:

Everyone who knows me would say “Carol Reilly is never ever at a loss for words” – and yet that’s how I find myself today.

Because of your tireless work and your caring foundation, last Thursday I was given the gift of a pet scan. It is a gift that came from all of you who work so tirelessly for such a worthy cause.

Since my diagnosis in early July until last Thursday September 21st, I have taken my prognosis a bit lightly; being assures by my surgeon that this was non invasive cancer and I would be well again soon – another gift. My faith has sustained me on this journey, however, that morning my thoughts were not about me but those who have passed from cancer and those who have not received a good diagnosis. I have been given a taste now for what can happen when cancer is not caught in its early stages.

While my body was being scanned, I found tears filling my eyes. Not one to cry easily, I listened to what I was feeling. Once again it was two gifts; one of gratitude to the Albie Aware Foundation – the other humility.

Blessings to each of you and thank you for your gracious gift. I will never forget you.

Fondly,
Carol A. Reilly

Note: When you hear the words 1 in 8 women have a lifetime risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer and they are your sister, your daughter, your aunt, your friend…..The above letter you have just read is from “my mother” who was diagnosed two months ago. As her daughter and your Executive Director, my heartfelt and sincerest thanks go to all of our sponsors and donors who made this possible – Cindy Love.

Golf - Special thanks to the women’s Council of Realtors who held their annual Golf Tournament September 11, 2006 at Teal Bend Golf Course and chose Albie Aware as their beneficiary for the second year in a row. With the hard work of Judie Brooks and her committee a great day of golf, dinner, and raffle were a fabulous success.

Board Application Available
Do you have a special talent or service you could bring to the Albie Aware Board? We are getting ready for our first annual Board retreat in November and are accepting applications from people who are interested in becoming involved with our foundation. Please call me if you or anyone you know might be interested.

Holiday Gift Program
The Albie Aware Holiday Gift Donation Program will send a certificate to the person you choose, saying that a donation was made in their name to our foundation. No gift is too small and your support will help us achieve our goals of Awareness, Prevention, Detection and Treatment. We all have many people on our lists besides our families that we like to recognize during the holidays such as teachers, child care givers, employees, and friends. What a great gift to honor those special people in our lives.

Thanks for your time and your support of our foundation, on behalf of the Board and the people we serve.

Yours truly,

Cindy Love
